Matthew Sylvester has been training in the Martial Arts
since 1991. He currently studies Ao Denkou Jutsu, Kempo Ryu
Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Shunryu Kempo. |
In a TKD pattern called Dan Gun we execute a 90 degree turn to
the left performing lower outer forearm block, and then left rising
block, emphasising the hip twist and returning the left fist to
the right hip before executing the rising block.
The moves can be performed against either a same or cross hand
grab. Without the turn to the left. I haven't thought about using
that as well.
Perform the lower outer forearm block to the grabbing arm, then
rake down to your right hip, this destroys their height, depth and
balance and brings them straight onto the rising block. This should
strike straight into the throat under the jaw line. Rising them
up nicely for the next 'rising block ' (which makes a nice uppercut
to the stomach) bringing him back down for the final rising block,
straight into the face/jaw once more. The first part should have
dropped him but due to my Kempo nature I like to have redundancy
built in just in case. The 270 degree spin anti-clockwise at the
end of the combination can also be used to hook their head with
your right hand and throw them to the ground. Thoughts? I know that
Vince has a similar application for Heian Shodan (I think that it
is anyway).
